serving is apart of being...
i can only but to serve...
so, serving is a given in life. serving definitely gets hard when one becomes selfish because serving is a dieing of oneself. dieing of oneself is to deny one's own feelings of desires, wants, and even needs at times. but of course there's a common sense to this as well. for example, someone can totally take this the wrong way by serving and starving oneself to death (literal death). this person denied himself to the point of harm. this can get very complicated so to keep it simple and more focused, lets make another statement of being.
loving God is apart of being...
so, loving God is a given. this helps a great deal, but only if you know who God is. the God i refer to is from the holy bible. if you know who God is this will make things simple because God takes the complicated into God and makes it simple. take the above starving person to death and ask, is he/she loving God by killing oneself? the answer is no. if one doesn't know why, the answer is in the bible. i know there's a limitation because of the lack of knowledge about God, but hopefully there's enough simple and complicated knowledge to cause the complicated to make simple.
lets go back to serving and try to answer the title "to serve or not to serve". when is there a time when one shouldn't serve? this can get endless, so i'll tackle one out of many situations. the one situation is, work is getting so burdensome that one can't serve. this becomes a two part question. the first question is, is work causing a love for God? then the second question can be asked which is, should one stop serving because work?
